Sleep Question?

Author: admin

I am 19 years old and find it difficult to sleep early, I carn't get to sleep till around 1am is this normal?

Answer:
There are lots of things that influence your sleep, and several ways to correct the problem that you have. You are 19, growing, and full of energy. Your body is going to stabilize or get set in the routine that you set. I can give you an example to help with your problem, but you should also talk to a sleep physician (Pulmonary/ Polysomnographic doctor). They’ll be happy to answer your questions.

Suggestion: Dont drink a lot of liquids before bedtime, especially ones with caffeen. To reset your biologic clock, stay up one or two hours later each night until you’re going to bed at 9:00 or 10:00 PM. Then go to bed at that time (9:00 or 10:00 PM) each night for about three weeks. That should reset your sleep habbits to a better schedule than you’ve now.

There might be other circumstances that are causing you to have problems. Don't be affraid to ask a doctor. Most of them will be happy to help you.

Answer:
Yes, it is normal. At 19, your Circadian rhythm (biological clock) can cause this.

If you want to fall asleep earlier can can try and limit your caffeine intake. see these tips for more info http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/wellness/resource… (WVU Hospital Sleep Laboratory)
