MRI with stitches ok?

Author: admin

I’ve stitches in my back and am scheduled to have an MRI done Wed. Is it safe to have an MRI with stitches? I wouldn't see why not, just making sure. Thanks.

Answer:
Yes, it is safe. The MRI techs will ask you questions about anything implanted in your body-pacemakers, defibrillators, etc., so be sure to inform them of anything you've had implanted in your body and of any prior surgeries you have had. The reason there’s concern with MRI's is that the scanner is a powerful magnet and obviously nobody wants to put a patient in the scanner if there’s a contraindication. Let them know that you have the stitches in your back and why they’re there. If it's just stitches, you’ll be fine.

Answer:
It should be okay, you just don't want to get an mri if you’ve anything magnetic in you, because that's what the mri machine uses is magnets

Answer:
Stiches, yes. Staples, no.

Make sure the tech knows about the healing wound on your back so s/he can make you comfortable.

Answer:
I dont see why it isnt safe.

Answer:
as long as you drink juice before hand
