Sorry if this is a naive or silly question. I just participated in a diabetes screening. My blood sugar was tested an hour after I ate lunch, and the reading was 4.4. The nurse said this was a bit low — she thought it was my fasting level at first and was surprise that I had recently eaten. Is this anything I should be concerned about?
Thanks for your help!
Answer:
Depends on what you ate for lunch. If you had water and a grilled cheese, it would be as high as if you would have had a coke, burger and fries. I think you're fine. But, if you're unsure. Ask your PCP.
Answer:
Depends on what you ate. Maybe the food did not raise your blood sugar level. Do some checking to see what your level should be. Then maybe check it a few times over the next couple of days
Answer:
4.4 mmol/l isn't that worrisome; but if you ever feel faint, eat a granola bar or something.
Answer:
I would get tested for Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
