I’ve a performance this Wednesday that I’ve to do in front of the whole school and I've been rehearsing a lot. I'm afraid my voice might go away from using it too much.. Is there anything I have the ability to do to not go hoarse? Also, if I do lose my voice, what can I do to help recover? Do cough drops or any medicine help?

Answer:
If you are speaking loudly, and that’s why your voice is going away, you need to learn to use your diaphragm. I learned how to use my diaphragm while in AFJROTC because when you command a unit you’ve to be VERY loud and distinct with your commands so that people can react swiftly and precisely. If I have the ability to call commands all day and never be hoarse, I can guarantee that you could deliver a very long speech and never be the slightest bit hoarse. The only problem is that I can't remember how long it took me to train myself to use my diaphragm and you might not learn to use it effectively by Wednesday. You should Google diaphragm exercises and learn about it.

Answer:
When my throat hurts or it is coarse I use warm salt water and gargle with it.
