May
So my husband has enlisted in the Army band and will be going to basic training August 3rd. We both just graduated from college on May 3rd. My health insurance is through my dad's work and will be up the end of the month since I’m no longer a student. I wouldn't be worried about being without insurance for a couple of months, but I am diabetic. If I’m ever uninsured, then whichever company insures me after the period of being uninsured, they have the ability to deny coverage on my pre-existing condition for up to a year. This will cause lots of problems/extra expenses. So my question is when exactly will be insurance through the Army kick in? Is there a way to get it sooner since he’s technically enlisted already? Or to check if they won't cover my diabetes for the first year if I go uncovered for June and July? Or if not and I have to get COBRA through my current insurance for a couple months, how can I find out how/how much? Any info would be GREAT! Thanks!
Answer:
you’ll be eligible for Tricare when he returns from boot and gets his assignment. he will get all that information when he goes to boot.
