Answer:
No- It's not diabetes
No- It's not carpal tunnel
No- It's not MS.
Your symptoms don’t match any of these.
What it does match is a nerve impingement in your neck and arm. Most of these complaints and symptoms are very common to side sleepers. Also, I would be willing to bet that you’ve a posture where your shoulders are forward (or you use your personal a lot).
In addition, I can tell you 2 other places that probably hurt. The first is about 1/2 way between your collar bone and your nipple. The second place will be in the middle of your back between your shoulder blades. This is because your pec muscles are pulling your shoulders forward. So they’re tight. That’s the point on the front. The muscles in the back are getting stretched out. This is the pain in the back.
This ends up putting pressure on the nerves and causes these symptoms. However, a neurologist isn’t the best person to see first. A neurologist should be used when other conservative measures have failed.
So, the ideal person to see at the beginning is a chiropractor. They will be able to realign your neck to correct any nerve problems in your neck. In addition, they should give you stretches and exercises to help balance out your shoulders.
As for the stretches and exercises, look up on the web and see about a doorway pec stretch. This will help stretch out your pec muscles. In addition you need to strengthen your middle and lower trapezius muscles. You can also look online for those.
Btw, I’ve seen 8-10 patients that have had similar problems as yours. All except 1 responded very well to both the chiropractic and the exercises.
I really wish you the best
Answer:
Carpal tunnel is at the top of the list. This is caused by compression of the median nerve at the level of the wrist. This aggravates the nerve and causes numbness and paresthesias (pins and needles). Common causes are activities that require a lot of fine hand movements, such as typing, playing the piano, writing, sewing, etcetera.
However, it doesn't make a ton of sense to me that you would have elbow or shoulder pain with carpal tunnel. It is possible that you have an injury to the nerves further up you arm. Compression of nerves can take place at the level of the elbow, shoulder and neck also.
Another possibility, (this is very unlikely and I don't want to terrify you), is multiple sclerosis (MS). The only reason that I bring this up is that it is most common in young women and can present with numbness. But again, carpal tunnel is much more likely!
The bottom line is that you should see your doctor. If it is carpal tunnel, it can be relieved with a very short, easy oupatient surgery.
Good Luck!
Answer:
See your health care provider as soon as possible (neurologist).
Your favorite sleeping position-like placing your hand under your pillow-could be numbing your right arm (hand) by putting pressure on a nerve. If so, feeling should return soon after you wake up and change position. Daytime numbness in your other hand most likely reflects a pinched nerve in your neck. Ask your physician about being evaluated for disorders such as disk disease or arthritis of the neck, both of which are usually treatable with exercise, drugs, or, as a last resort, surgery. And good luck.
Answer:
The tingling and numbness in your fingers could be a sign of diabetes. Diabetics often complain of cold or numb hands and feet.
