Just last week, I had an endoscopy done and I feel like I’ve heartburn meaning I have GERD. Even though, the physicians stated they cant find anything that shows that I have GERD i have all of the symptoms of GERD. my questionS ARE, (1) Is GERD asymptomatic or is it something else? and when I defecate, there’s blood in it. (2) so does that mean that I’m getting cancer in the esophagus or esophagitis? why do i get blood when I defecate? I am very much confuse with what I have or am getting since the physicians themselves are unable to tell me what it is because they cant tell themselves. plz help, thanx
There are sometimes that when I eat food I can sleep and there are sometimes when I eat i get a strong pain in my chest that i cant sleep and when I brush my teeth i vomit the food that I ate like 8 hours ago. I am leaning towards GERD but oncce again, the physicians cant find anything that states that but i have the symptoms of it so what is it?? please help
Answer:
GERD and acid reflux are the same things, and you described having reflux - which is the vomit that gets into your throat. Problems caused by acid reflux wouldn't necessarily show up with an endoscope, so a negative endoscope finding only means that you do not have enough reflux to cause inflammation of the esophagus.
The ideal thing to do in your situation is to make sure you have at least 3-4 hours between eating dinner and going to bed, and eliminate things from your diet that seem to aggravate the problem. Medications like PepsidAC or Roalids might also help.
Blood in the stool, if it looks like fresh, red blood is caused by hemorrhoidal bleeding.
Answer:
Instead of GERD could it be acid reflux. Because the symptoms that you describe are the same symptoms that I had and I was diagnosed with acid reflux and the physician put me on Nexium and ever since then I’ve not had a problem. Acid reflux can also cause all the heartburn and worse. If I were you I would change physicians and get another opinion, because I know how painful this can be. I hope this helped. Good Luck!
