When my ingrown toenails got so painful, I had it removed, but before that I used triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporine) on it, concentrating heavily on the direct area where the nail was actually ingrown, and bandaged it ideal I could. Working on the infection helps reduce the swelling and inflammation and therefore reduces pain.
Be sure to check your other fFORfor any signs or symptoms of an ingrown toinail snd start treating it now if it is.
You may also get relief soaking your foot in warm (as warm as you can comfortably tolerate) with epsom salt added. (Epsom salt can be found at drug stores, and many other stores including most grocery stores and walmart. Apply th antibiotic ointment as soon as you finished, but be certain your feet are dried totally. Cover the toe with a bandaid or light bandage to keep the antibiotic on it and to keep it clean.
Answer:
The best bet for chronic ingrown toenail is to just remove the nail. It looks a bit gnarly but its so much better than constantly being in pain.
