In New York Say who can I go to to learn about becoming a paramedic? I've always wanted to be one but I have no idea how or who to speak to. I know I’ve to become an EMT first, but how do I do that? There's only one community college within an hour of me that offers the training and I don't really know what to say to them or how to go about approaching them. Please help!

Answer:
One of my friends is a paramedic, you are right, you need to become an EMT first. in order to become an EMT you need to go and get the proper training, I do not live in ny state so I’m not sure where those are over there but yes you need to take classes and rack up volunteer hours at a local hospital. Then you need to volunteer at a First Aid Squad where sometimes you will spend the whole night. Wherever you take the classes they should be able to write you a nice recommendation. You’ll need to study a lot and give up a lot of your free time volunteering. It is a very interesting and rewarding experience from what I hear. So take the classes and volunteer. Tell them you’re interested in helping people and becoming a Doctor someday (if you are) and tell them you would really like the experience and to know what to do in an emergency situation. Good luck, sorry for the lengthy answer
