I just moved so I am seeing a new chiropractor and I would like to know how to judge him. I did feel superior after leaving but I am always nervous when people are cracking my neck and so forth that they might injured me.

Also, what education do you need to be a chiro?

Answer:
Chiropractic school is 4 years. These schools are accredited, but they're accredited by chiropractors so make of that what you’ll. From what I've heard, there are some schools that are very good and there are some that really only want your money.

Personally, I would not go to a chiropractor who claims to be able to treat anything like infectious diseases, cancer, heart disease, lung disease, or really anything but musculoskeletal disease. I am dubious about their overall training in basic principles of health and disease. Also, beware the chiro (or anyone) who tries to get you to sign up for 3 appointments a week for years on end. They're being good business people, but perhaps not the best health care advocate. Don’t do cervical spine manipulation if you aren't comfortable with it. There’s an association between that and strokes. It might be small, but it is preventable (in that, if you don't have cervical manipulation, it can't cause a stroke from a carotid dissection).
