I was given some as a painkiller after my surgery but it's only meant for severe pain… I'm not in severe pain anymore but I keep taking it. Is it bad to continue using it if I don't have severe pain? I'm starting to feel like I need to take it… should I throw the rest out?
Answer:
Oxycodone can be both physically as well as psychologically addicting. You would have to be on it for a significant amount of time to actually be physically addicted to it (which can be VERY difficult to handle) Based on the info you left, I will assume you’ve not been taking it for very long and you're getting a tiny high after each dose. In this case if you just quit now, you won't have to worry about the physical problems of addiction. The psychological need is easy to quit if you've just started so i would nip it in the bud now and just stop taking it. No massive deal, you'll be fine.
Answer:
You can recognize that you’re becoming addicted. The drug is an opiate, so it is possible to become addicted. If you are still experiencing pain but don't feel that it's serious enough to require the oxycodone, take the rest back to the physician and tell them that you would like a less potent pain medication like 800mg ibuprofen =)
Answer:
First off is there any way you can get more?…If so, throw it out
If you can't get more begin to cut the pills in half and take only a half pill everyday and when you are running low take half a pill every other day…this will wean you off and side effects will be much less intense
Answer:
maybe you should throw it out, if it's meant for severe pain and you're not in severe pain, you probably shouldn't use it, that's what I would do anyway….
Answer:
Never waste good drugs! It's drug abuse! Your “need” to take this is probably mostly psychological. Try weaning yourself off slowly. Save the remaining pills for when you need them or send them to me for faster disposal.
Answer:
THROW IT OUT AND NEVER THINK ABOUT IT AGAIN! DO IT NOW BEFORE IT BECOMES A SERIOUS PROBLEM.
Answer:
You need to quit now….It's not funny becoming a drug addict…who is ever gonna want you if you’re all strung out……besides….sex will be foggy and no fun…..
