I have been on a high protein diet for almost a year now. I went from 210 lbs. to 170. I lift 5-6 times a week. For this year I did a lot of cardio typically after my lifts. For the past two weeks I stopped doing cardio. I am much stronger going into the weight room and am putting up a lot more weight. If I now throw Carbs into the mix what will this do for me? Spring break is coming up. I already have a good body but I would like to really go that one extra step. Should I continue low to no carbs or start eating them to pack on muscle?
Answer:
I know you were trying a low cal. diet and i hope its still going well. I decided to do a low cal. low carb diet. I keep my carbs under 30 and try to keep my cal. under 500-800. Low calorie diets do work. But you have to do it right to keep the weight off. When you lose down to where you want to be you have to slowly reintroduce carbs.
Do NOT go under 20 cal. a day!!
Hope this helps
Answer:
You need carbs to fuel your workout. If you dont eat any carbs, you'll start using muscle tissue for energy which is probably what you've been doing by the sound of it. Eat slow digesting, complex carbs like brown rice and whole wheat bread.

Answer:
Carbs are the Macro Nutrient that is needed next in line to Protein, followed by Omega 3 or good fats.
You need approx 130grams of carbs a day for weight loss. These are the most efficient form of fuel for the body, and if you are working out, you will need carbs for energy. You should be having a meal of protein, carbs and fats (good ones) no longer than 1 hour after a workout to support muscle growth and to provide energy. No or low carbs are not good for the body because if the body isn't getting it's ready fuel from carbs, it will then draw on energy from the glycogen stored in the muscle tissue, and that's not good if you are weight training. Get those complex carbs into you in the amount I've suggested and you will find this helps not only with your weight loss, but with your energy levels as well. Answer:
Carbs in moderation give you energy, they are fuel. Carbs in excess turn into sugars. Carbs do not pack on muscle, this is not their purpose. You can add in a few carbs and you'll be fine, just stay moderate with them.
