also what are the advantages of organic food… please only facts.. no opinions..

Answer:
The production of non-organic food permits the use of the following:

synthetic chemical fertilizers

synthetic chemical pesticides and herbicides

sewage sludge

antibiotics

growth hormones

genetically modified foods (or genetically engineered, gmo, ge)

irradiation

over 2000 FDA approved food additives

The toxic pesticides would then be on the produce. These chemicals and the antibiotics and growth hormones can also be found in the tissues of livestock (cows for example). The milk from these animals can also be contaminated with the same substances.

Now as for the organic food. Regulations require that no synthetic pesticides be used. They do allow natural ones. The farmers use crop rotation and composting to help keep the soil healthy with a high nutrient content.

This healthy soil then produces healthy plants that are themselves rich in nutrients.

The farmers do not use synthetic chemicals, sewage sludge, or growth hormones. No non-medicinal antibiotics are given. That means that a vet has to prescribe it and then accurate records must be kept. The farmers also do not use genetically engineered plants or seeds.

Then the production of organic food does not permit irradiation. A practice that is common in spices, onions and potatoes of the non-organic food. The allowed food additive ingredients is also restricted.

Answer:
There are no downsides really.

You need to wash foods like celery to remove any hidden dirt in the stalk.

True organic food is grown not using pesticides to control pests and chemical fertilizers.

Just because a food is labeled "organic" does not mean that it organically grown.

Organic originally meant that food was grown natures way,but big business got the FDA to change the meaning.

Answer:
Organic foods are grown in organic soil which holds more moisture and that helps with global warming. The obvious answer is that organic foods have very trace amounts of insecticides. Some organic foods like eggs, beef and chicken are free of hormone injection minimizing the risk of food poisoning and that about exhausts the extent of my knowledge on organic foods. There are very few down sides as far as we now know.

Answer:
Two things I read recently:

-there is a chemical in non-organic peanut butter that can lead to infertility in males.

- non-organic milk and meat: cows are pumped with antibiotics, then we eat them, then the next time you get sick and the doctor gives you antibiotics they dont work because your body has built up against it
