I agree with everything Janet said and would add that now is the time to get her into exercising. Focus on doing it to be healthy, not loose belly fat (which is probably just left over baby fat and will go away as she grows). She's not too young to do some cardio and toning exercises.

Answer:
I think she is too young to be worrying about that. She doesn't have the mental abilities YET to understand carbs, protein, and the calorie junk. Just do her and yourself a favor stop buying sodas for the house and chips or doughnuts all the good stuff and cook healthier meals for your family.

Answer:
She's 11. You should be encouraging her to love herself and her body and help her to feel good about herself. She's just a kid.

Answer:
You can't lose fat in one area. She can lose fat through diet and exercise, but it will be all over.

What she can do is to firm up her abdominal muscles through sit-ups, crunches, etc. Better muscle tone will pull her belly in, so it doesn't look as fat.

The thing is, her body is not finished developing yet. In fact, at her age, it's just starting. She will look like a completely different person in three or four years. So she should be patient.
