green tea and a bowl of multi grain cheerios with soy milk and strawberries on top?
how can i learn to eat the right proportions? if i go to sit down at the table with the right amount everyone is going to think i'm crazy because we all know americans like to over eat.

Well, long answer turned short: There are chemicals in American foods that aren't even legal in other countries. These chemicals make you crave the food and want more and more and your body's “calorie counter” is out of whack. Basically, those chemicals mess your body up so your fullness factor will be altered. Look up portion sizes online and go by that as ideal you can.

measure out your food and/or get a food scale. your breakfast sounds healthy. you’re right that us americans generally do tend to overeat. i think it's good that you want to eat right. don't be embarassed or worry about what others say.
