Where are you from? In some countries being a bit chunky is healthy, in the says size 0 is acceptable - to me this is very very underweight and certainly not healthy! I don't think it is acceptable anywhere to call someone fat. I am a instructor who had a very skinny pupil tell me she was called fat at a party and now was worried about her weight, aged 12! You must not put people in fat or thin categories as they mean different things to different people. If you think someone looks good then tell them that, you will make their day!

In the West saying someone is fat is considered rude.
When I was living in China and I returned from a holiday one time, many people greeted me and told me I looked fat. I had to get used to the fact that they were being polite. You have to get used to the other way round.
