Answer:
Don’t become anorexic. That's just stupid.
You said you're 14 so I assume you are in high school. If you’re, you should be engaging in various different sports. Not only is this fun, it will expose you to different kinds of sports and physical activities and you can then decide which to pursue more actively and perhaps devote more time to. Your high school should also have a gym. I definitely suggest this because you want to build muscle. Muscles are the furnace in which stored fats are burned. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate and the more efficiently you burn fat. If you work on building muscle while also dieting and adding a little cardio, the fat will automatically fly off. But, you’ve to get your diet right. This is the #1 priority. Everything is dependent on your diet.
Yet, at 14, I know this can be incredibly difficult. But I'm telling you that you really don't need any of those mass market diets (think Atkins and such). You’ll however need to educate yourself on the concept of caloric balance. If you understand this concept, I have the ability to assure you one thing: You will never be fat again.
You will also need to know the basic food groups (macronutrients) and what they do for your body. My advice to you is to just spend the next couple of days reading up on these things. There are tons of World wide web resources available which provide free information on weight loss. You’ll reap a lifetime of good health as a reward.
Here's a tip to get you started: When on a weight loss diet, a good general rule of thumb is to consume (bodyweight in pounds x 10) calories. This means, in your case, you should be consuming 174 x 10 = 1740 calories, which we’ll round down to 1700, because rounding down is always good on a diet. This is your magic number. You will need to keep to 1700 calories per day. If this sounds low, that's because it IS low. But I assure you, you WILL definitely lose weight at this level, at a rate of about 1.5 lbs per week. Note also that this is the NETT caloric intake. Which means that if you play 2 hours of basketball and burn 300 calories, you should be eating 2000 on that day. 2000 - 300 = 1700, your magic number.
Spread the 1700 calories out over 5 meals; 3 main and 2 snacks. I would suggest as a general guideline:
Breakfast: 600
Snack: 100
Lunch: 500
Snack: 100
Dinner: 400
Of course, like I mentioned above, if you plan to do a 10km run on any given day, you’ll need to adjust your numbers to compensate for what you've burned during the exercise. However, being on such low calories, go easy on the exercise. I generally advocate 30 minutes of brisk walking EVERY day.
A few guidelines: Eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat them like there's no tomorrow. Not only are they good for you, they’re high in fibre and this will keep you full and more satiated on a low calorie diet. You should have a little starchy carbs as possible. And the only things you should be drinking are water and green tea. Nothing more.
Weight loss isn’t rocket science. But there is a science to it and you will need one thing: Commitment. Without this, you can try ANY diet in the world, you’ll never succeed in losing weight.

Diets are not the answer. Once you stop it just all comes back because you would be returning to old habits. The easy truth is that food is energy and if you don't USE the energy it stays in you as fat. Obvious example Michael Phelps he can swallow down 12k calories per day and not get a shred of fat because he uses the energy. Being anorexic is NOT the answer, all you really do is hurt your body. ALl you really need is to be more active, join sports walk more, it takes time but its the natural way we've been using for thousands of years. Push yourself to be more active, it's hard at first but in time you'll feel better trust me i've been there. Once you become more active be patient. good luck

go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7
p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your
initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don't
eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you
don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your diet is
still balanced. It costs nothing, and you don’t have to calculate points or
to buy special meals or plans.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, begin with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Each week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You’ll see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much superior than these
crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you’ll see it in a week.
