okay so I'm 18 I just graduated and during the summer i've been working and sitting around a lot. I know I need to lose some weight. I need some recommendations that aren't like “go to the gym and eat healthy” because that is what everyone states. I need something that I real teenage girl can do to trim up and drop a couple pounds. I haven't drank soda for 7 Months and that hasn't helped. What are foods to stay away from? What sort of excercise can I do? Thank you for any help… Oh and how do I get rid of stupid cellulite and stretch marks?

Answer:
Losing weight can be tough for a lot of people. While there are a lot of ways to boost your metabolism and burn through calories, did you know that there are foods out there that aid your body in the process? While none of these can be considered a cure-all for fat loss, each has special properties that rev up your metabolism. They can all be easily found at your local supermarket and incorporated into your diet.

Foods that Boost your Metabolism

Number 5: Ice Water

Even though water isn’t technically a food, it can still have a long-term effect on your metabolism. Drinking water flushes toxins out of your body and helps ferry nutrients to your system. Drinking a cold glass of ice water does even more, though.

Your body must warm up the ice water to its own temperature. In order to do that, it must expend a certain amount of energy. This comes out to around 17.5 calories per glass. If you drink around eight 8 oz glasses a day, you’ll end up burning an additional 70 calories a day. While that doesn’t seem like much, that adds up to losing approximately 7 pounds a year!

Number 4: Green Tea

Green tea is incredible for you in so many ways. Besides providing tons of anti-oxidants, encouraging the growth of digestive bacteria in your stomach, and fighting a host of diseases, green tea helps burns calories as well! The combination of a small amount of caffeine and the polyphenol EGCG work together to boost your metabolism. Though caffeine is used in moderate amounts by bodybuilders to boost their heart rates and thus their metabolisms, it is the combination of the two which allows you to burn up to 60 additional calories a day by drinking four or five glasses. Replace your latte with this and you’re good to go!

Number 3: Negative Calorie Vegetables

It might seem strange, but some foods actually cause your body to expend more energy consuming them than the calories that they actually contain. This means that eating a salad that has 200 calories may take 300 calories for your body to burn, suggesting that the more you eat the more you burn! Many vegetables and fruits, besides being very nutritious, are extremely low in calories and have this effect on the body. When considering snacks or small meals throughout the day, a negative calorie fruit or vegetable is perfect for boosting your metabolism and burning calories.

Number 2: Coconut Milk

You won’t find this on any other top 5 list. Coconut milk has gotten a very bad rap since the ’60s because of its massive content of saturated fat. Fortunately, nowadays we know not to lump all saturated fats together. Coconut milk is 47% lauric acid, a type of saturated fat that easily breaks down into energy. This will not clog your arteries like other saturated and trans fats do! Studies on people who consume coconuts regularly have shown zero negative effect on their cardiovascular health.

The oil is converted into monolaurin by the body, which is hugely anti-viral and anti-bacterial. In terms of your metabolism, coconut oil deposits enzymes that activate your thyroid gland (which regulates your metabolism!) by up to 20% more. To get these benefits, one only needs to consume 4 spoonfuls a day.

Number 1: Hot Chile Peppers

My favorite! Living in the southwest, I’ve been eating these every day for nearly a year now. There are lots of different types, all of which are jam packed full of vitamin A, C, and E along with many other nutrients. Most of all, chile peppers contain capsaicin, a thermogenic agent that gives you the sensation of heat when you eat them. This boosts your metabolism by up to 25% and raises your heart rate naturally for up to three hours after eating them. They also inhibit fat cell growth. By eating some kind of spicy food or a tiny bit of chile all with each meal, you can easily burn a couple hundred extra calories a day.

Conclusion

While none of these foods are adequate to base your entire diet on, each little bit helps. It’s easy to put ice in your water, add some chiles to your pasta sauce, and make a big salad or stir fry. Just remember, the only way to really lose fat and look good is to exercise and eat right. These are just some ways to give your metabolism the little boost it needs to burn a few more calories!

Rolled Oats

Rolled oats can be made with whey protein and flaxmeal in the morning to spike your metabolism with high quality carbohydrates, protein and good fats. The best time to eat rolled oats is in the morning when your body needs carbohydrates for your brain and body to effeciently function throughout the rest of the day.

Whey Protein

Whey protein is perhaps the ideal thing for your metabolism since sliced rye bread (yes, we know what the saying is). It is in powder format and comes from cows milk. Whey protein is a complete high quality protein which is great for increasing your metabolism because everytime you ingest protein your body feels full longer and revs your metabolism.

Almonds

Almonds are loaded with good fats, fiber and incomplete protein. You can see the complete nutrient profile here. Since almonds have such great essential fatty acids they help your body raise it's metabolism just by ingesting them. Obviously ANY FAT has a high calorie content so be sure to have a few nuts each day. You can mix these up with pine, cashews and walnuts as they also contain a very healthy amount of good fats and antioxidants.

Natural Yogurt

Natural yogurt contains many pro-biotic cultures that are necessary for a healthy digestive tract. Yogurt also contains a lot of good fats and some protein. Yogurt can be eaten as a mid-morning snack with a whole apple.

Green Tea

Green Tea is perhaps one of the best morning metabolism boosters you can drink. Not only does it help with cancer risk, weight loss, metabolism it also contains caffeine which helps you focus during the morning. Green tea is found in many fat burning products

Beans

Beans are loaded with fiber and incomplete protein. Fiber helps keep you feeling full longer which helps prevent any binges and lapses in your meal plan.

Spinach

Spinach is loaded with antioxidants which help repair damaged muscles and prevent free radicals from doing their damaging effects to your health. Spinach is known for it's iron, vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. Myfit.ca wouldn't suggest ingesting this everyday but each few days would be acceptable.

Eggs

Eggs are one of the highest quality protein sources available. Eggs should be part of everyones diet and is perhaps the ideal food at speeding up the metabolism.

Turkey

Turkey is one of those lean meats that you should have once or twice a week to switch up your sources of protein. It is a great source of complete protein which helps rev your BMR (basal metabolic rate)

Chicken Breast

Chicken breast should be a staple in anyones diet. It's lean, easy to make and you can find it cheap at the local supermarket. I prefer the bonless, skinless kind because it takes extra time to skin/debone it.

Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter is one of those hidden health foods. People give it a bad rap due to it's high caloric content but it contains great essential fatty acids, lots of fibre and some incomplete protein. Instead of putting it on toast, try it on celery as a snack.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Canola Oil

Extra virgin olive oil and canola oil should be used at ALL TIMES when cooking. Since extra virgin olive oil has a lower flash point (it burns at a lower temperature than most oils) it is sometimes pretty messy to use. These oils contain lots of omega 3's which keep your heart and brain healthy.

Whole grains

Whole grains provide energy that you need throughout the day. Most of the advertised whole grains aren't actually made with Whole Wheat (and with the germ). Make sure that the product that you buy isn’t enriched either. The more that you increase your insulin levels the superior chance you're slowing down that metabolism.

Berries

Most people love berries and they're not such a hidden secret anymore. They’re jam packed FULL of antioxidants and is probably one of the most important health foods to eat to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep your metabolism going strong. Frozen Raw Raspberries are usually the easiest to buy from the frozen section of your local supermarket.

Cayenne Pepper

In the past five years cayenne pepper has been used in fat burners. Why you ask? Well, cayenne has thermagenic (heats up your body) properties. When your body has to cool itself down it requires calories to do so. Thus, creating a fire for your metabolism.

Coffee

Coffee is one of those foods that have been loved and hated by many nutrionists and dieticieans. The most current research about caffeine and coffee suggest many positive benefits which include: Speeding up your metabolism, heart health, increased concentration and many more.

Water

A current study by germany researchers suggest that 90 minutes after drinking cold water (H20) will boost your metabolism by 24% over their average metabolism rate. Make sure to drink your water cold. Not only does water keep your body lean it also helps with keeping the flow of nutrients and helps get rid of free radicals. Make sure you're keeping the water cooler near by.

Steak

Lean red meat has also been through a love and hate relationship with many health professionals; but current research recommends that lean red meat should be ingested once per week. Red meat contains creatine monohydrate which helps your body use more creatine phosphate (ATP) to help you build muscle. Obviously with the more muscle mass the greater your metabolism.

Vegetables

Vegetables are one of those totally needed foods that we NEED to eat to maintain an elevated metabolism. Vegetables contain fibre, vitamins and many essential nutrients which we can

Go to sparkteens.com and sign up. It has a meal planner, nutrition tracker, weight tracker, workout videos, and recipes. Basically what you need to do is reduce your calorie intake to 1200-1500 calories a day. Do cardio workouts for 30-45 minutes 4 times a week. The site has a lot more workouts and tips as well. As for cellulite, the only way to get rid of it is to burn fat. You burn fat by doing cardio. Stretch marks are harder. Try getting a scar lightning lotion or gel and applying it to them. Also, I've heard coco butter helps.

Answer:
stay away from fast food and junk food. try doing yoga and pilates

Answer:
You should stay away from foods that are high in carbohydrates (fries, potatoes, macaroni, cereal) and high in sugar. Those kinds of food store fat in your body causing you to gain weight. Instead of eating fried foods, you should grill food like grilled chicken or grill shrimp. Eating foods that are high in protein is helpful like grill chicken, lean meats like turkey; eggs are also a good source of protein. Walking, jogging, or running on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes a day, 3-5 times a week is good way to help in weight loss. You should burn more calories when you exercise than the calories that you take in when you eat. It is also helpful to google “diet and exercise” so that you can get some helpful tips because they’re a lot of helpful resources on the World wide web. I don't know much about how to remove cellulite but I'm sure you can find some tips about that on the World wide web about where you can go to get a procedure done to remove it. I've heard that stretch marks are permanent but I'm not sure about that fact. I think you can have em removed by getting plastic surgery or purchase some kind of lotion. Maybe you can ask a dermatologist about procedures that can done to remove stretch marks and cellulite. That would be more safer than the plastic surgery.
