i weigh 120 and i need to get up to 180 but i need to get it in muscle and not fat any help?
Answer:
it would be near impossible to gain just muscle with no increase in body fat. just to accomplish that you have to dial in the diet to an exact amount of calories daily and that alone takes months and you need to use direct or indirect calorimetry (a method of measuring the BMR using oxygen consumption).
to gain 60 lbs of muscle it would come at about a total increase of around 80-90 lbs to the total bodyweight. even with the best diet, steroids, training program and freak genetics you would probably be the first person is history to accomplish that. if you did or could it would have a negative impact on your joints, tendons and ligaments.
if you are a newbie to resistance training with the right diet and training program you can realistically gain 50 lbs of muscle in the first 2-3 years when the body is in it's highest most untrained state.

If your in your early 20s or below… its not going to happen.
60 pounds of lean muscle which is currently 50% of your weight would be extremely difficult to attain in just 10 months. Something like that usually takes a couple of years of careful dieting and 4 hours in the gym 4 days per week.
The rule to muscle gain is thus: eat lots of protein, take supplements such as creatine, and pound maximum weight to point of failure.
Answer:
ha ha good luck
Answer:
Wow dude, 60 pounds of lean muscle is alot to build even with the time slot you've left yourself. My only advice to you would to look at your nutrition before taking any further steps.. this is your hurdle in a steeple chase. Fall down here and you won't hit your target.
You need to be taking in 2grams of protein to every kilo in bodyweight- i don't work in pounds!
You need to be a higher carb diet before training to build up glycogen in your stores (energy). Pasta and some chicken is a great pre exercise meal, just be sure to leave an hour before training. After training, intake some more protein to aid recovery.
In terms of your work outs, remember to have a slow movement in all weight bearing exercises you perform. You need to control movements up and down with a pause between eac rep. This is to ensure you take your muscles through their natural routine.
Do not neglect any part of your body, especially your legs and speak to the personal trainers in your gym. Get them to help you devise a suitable program that gradually builds you. Don't jump in the deep end.
Hope this helps.
