I have an ectomorph body type which means that I'm naturally skinny and do not gain weight or muscle easily. I have began a workout program where I work out every other day, NO exceptions, and eat heavy amounts of protein, medium carbs, and low fat.
I have seen some significant gains in muscle mass since the beginning of the year, but I am wondering what I can take or eat in order to bulk up even more. I weigh about 151 lbs. now and would like to weigh about 170-180. What should I eat? What supplements should I take and how?
Answer:
Several years ago I was about 147 lbs. A roommate suggested I cook 4 to 5 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast at a time. I'd eat that along with steamed vegetables three or four times a day and have cereal for breakfast on weekdays, omelets on weekends and odd other meals to keep it from getting too boring. My workout routine had gottem me to 161 than I stalled. When I started this diet around March I was shooting fro 170 by the end of the year. I hit 170 by October and 180 by the end of the year.
Eat right and DON"T overtrain. When I was younger I was much stronger but I'm sure that overtraining stifled my potential.
Remember, gaining muscle is just like losing weight. Fast gains are not possible. Keep in mind that if you even gain a pound a month, that's 12 pounds a year. Within two years you could weigh 175 without being flabby.
Unfortunately, after hitting 180 I started running, then cycling and now my weight runs 162 to 165.
Keep up with the lifting and eat right. The gains will come.
