whats the best advice you have for a diet? and how much is normal to lose in a month… like the atkins diet except with a little bread…

Answer:
My best advice is not to "diet" but do a "lifesyle change" If you go to www.thedailyplate.com they can help you lose weight by tracking your calories and intake and also exercise. Its a totally free website. Its normal to lose about 5-10lbs a month. Its better to lose slowly so that you don't gain it all right back. Go ahead and check it out! I have been using it for 5 wks now and have lost 8 lbs. so yea it does work!

ok first thing…if ur going to do a diet u need to stick to it. bread is carbs, so that defeats the point of the diet. its like saying im fasting…but i eat ice cream and fries. it doesnt work!

ANY diet works id u stick to it religously. but if u cheat, then it doesnt…simple as.

i wouldnt reccomend the atkins diet anyway, its screws you up. eat no more than 1,300 cals a day and do an hour of cardio at least 5 times a week and you will lose weight. promise. no magic tricks. no secrets. just hard work and youl get there.

good luck honey xx

I did Weight Watchers after the birth of my daughter. I went at it slowly and surely and lost around 50lbs in just over a year. I know that sounds really slow going, and I would have died if anyone told me it would take that long, but I have kept it off for a year now, so it was worth it.

Basically I just went by their points system. At first I did it online, later I joined a local class, and later still I knew it well enough so I just did the last bit alone.

The biggest things for me were:

1) I kept a little note of everything I ate that day and the points so I didn't go over without noticing.

2) I made a graph with weight on the y axis (1lb per square), and the year on the x axis (1 week per square) for the whole year. I stuck it by my bed and plotted my weight every tuesday. There were lots of peaks and troughs but gradually I could see it was going down, even when it didn't feel like it.

3) Every 6 weeks or so I found that I lost momentum. My weight loss would plataeu and I would just have had enough. At this point I usually took a break from being super strict for about 2 weeks (without going absolutely wild!), then I would start again. My weight loss would pick up again, any gained weight would come off really fast and I felt I could handle it again.

The thing I found helpful about this method was that I learnt a lot about the content of the food I was eating, it was very educational. It was also sustainable as I can relax, while still being aware of what foods should be taken in moderation, and if my weight does start to creep up again (ie post Xmas) I just pay extra attention again for a few weeks.

That is what worked for me. Everyone is different, so it's wise to read up, listen to advice, then think about the type of person you are and what you can stick to.

Personally I am quite anti-Atkins, I dont believe it is healthy or sustainable, but my dad has done it and it worked for him, so each to their own!
