Smoke a bowl of weed and take a couple sips of cough syrup thats what I do. Also avoid caffeine drinks, sugar and try not to workout before bed that can make you stay awake cause your body will be pumped up and full of energy.

Well, any OTC sleep medicine could carry a massive risk of addiction, so you want to be careful about those. If you'd like, there are popular and effective natural sleep aids that don't have a risk of addiction.
There's Melatonin, Valerian, Chamomile, Hops, L-Tryptophan, L-Theanine, Passionflower, and Scullcap (an herb).
You can try any one of those to help you sleep naturally.
Also, make sure you avoid sugar, caffeine, and exercise for at least 2-3 hours before you want to head to bed to eliminate other common possibilities of sleeping problems. If none of those help, it's possible you may need to see a Sleep Specialist to see why you aren't sleeping right, but most people don't get to that point after trying some of these options. Good luck and I hope I helped!
Answer:
I’ve found that exhaustion is a great sleep enhancer. Seriously, sometimes you just have to make yourself really fatigued. The days I do yard work I sleep like a baby but when I'm not tired enough is when I usually have the most trouble sleeping. Of course it also helps if you can direct your thoughts to something pleasant before bedtime. The first answer is solid and well worth considering.
