I work in a seniors home and noticed that several of the Seniors put a bar or two of soap in their beds - they claim that it helps their arthritis by bringing down the swelling!
I have never heard of this one before - but I think it might be all in their heads! Have you ever heard of such a cure for arthritis? Another lady swears that putting a potato in her bed does the same thing?
Please explain, if you can explain or any other weird folk home remedy cures?

I can't explain it, but I’ve seen it listed here and there. I have a variety of websites and books that I look at about folk remedies and such.

My sisters do the same thing, they put bars of soap in their bed, and swear that it helps. I don't know if it's in their head, or if it's for real, but Poly swears by it (Poly is on here, but I won't use her full nick
). She states that her knees haven't injured as bad as they used to since she's done that. I've told some of the people here at this nursing home about it, but I guess they don't think that a youngun knows much of anything ;)…… As to how or why it works, I don't know…….
I don't know if you classify this as weird, but soda crackers or peppermints for acid indigestion….. I'll even make peppermint tea by dissolving the peppermints in water, then warming it up in the nuker…… Oh yeah, some people swear by magnets or by copper for taking away pain too….
