I mean, a reasonable amount of alcohol, like two drinks or something, (not boozing all night long)and then take a Melatonin….any reason why I shouldn't do this?
Answer:
I have taken Melatonin shortly after having a drink (about 4oz. of rum mixed with a glass of cola. It seemed to put me to sleep a little quicker. Not the sort of thing you want to do on a nightly basis but I'm not aware of any negative effects.
sleep tight ( you should pardon the pun)
Answer:
Alcohol actually stimulates the nervous system before depressing it, so it may keep you from sleeping.
Answer:
Interesting question, I take melatonin from time to time, so I was curious too.
I found a writer on Erowid who says that you really shouldn't take melatonin with alcohol, because the combination will mess with your sleep cycle, make you feel even groggier in the morning, and possibly cause very bad nightmares (and I've experienced the "strong dreaming" that's supposed to be an occasional side effect of melatonin, I don't think I'd like to see what kind of nightmare he's talking about.)
About.com also recommends not taking melatonin with alcohol. Interesting.
Answer:
It is NOT a good thing to mix alcohol with any medications. It can result in serious damage to organs of the body, especially to liver and kidneys.
