My 5 /12 month old daughter's left side of her jaw started cracking when she would open and close her mouth 2 days ago.
It sounds like TMJ. She's had no injury to it and it's not swollen. It's not bothering her and she's actually opening and closing her mouth several times in a row to hear the click.
Is this common or even possible?
What is the treatment and outcome?
I can't get her into the doctor for 4 more days.
Answer:
Yes, it's possible. I recommend that you have her checked out by a chiropractor who specializes in pediatric. They have a very gentle way of correcting it, no thrusting, just steady soft pressure in a certain spot.
Answer:
I'm not sure that it's very common, but it can happen in infants. Try not to worry, but if it seems like it's causing her pain, you should probably get her to urgent care. She should be fine until you get her into the doctor. Good luck to you and your daughter!
