Generally, yes. Glucosamine isn’t the same thing as Glucose… it's from Shellfish.

However, if you are taking any medication for your diabetes, your ideal (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you're taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you swiftly if you can safely take them together or not…. anyone here will just have a ideal guess from searching on the web (which isn't always accurate, as we all know) ;-)

As a side note, there are a few other supplements that help with joint health as well. The most popular ones (aside from Glucosamine) are Microlactin (which is from milk), Tart Cherries, Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Litozin (Danish Rose Hips), and Bromelain. Good luck!

Answer:
I am a diabetic and my physician has stated it is OK for me to take Glucosamine for my osteoarthritis and joint pain. However, it is always safest to ask your personal doctor, since he/she knows your body the best.
